  • that is an expensive costume...those vuarnet glasses are 500 euro or something like that is this a costume ending up to cost an arm and a leg..i am really curious how much is this going o cost in the end

  • idk why adam bothers to buy anything... he completely rebuilds everything, might as well just buy the materials and start from scratch >.>

  • That's not a hat that's a statement.

  • Seems like a stupid hat but i bet it works where the film is set.

  • Ifixit is one of those few companies that actually care about what they do. They put out cheap and good toolkits, they sell replacement parts for just about any electronic, and they put out step by step guides for any repair related activity.

  • MacReady hat band is awesomeness. The absolute effort and attention to detail this man has is everything I aspire to. Amazing work, as always, Adam!

  • That’s part of the rival series, It’s official name isn’t “nerf rival” but it)s part of that series

  • Isn't Roo leather banned in Commiefornia? I was told that's why I can't buy another pair of Roo Hide work gloves?

  • Achievement: making a Tilly hat seem a bargain. I keep losing the warranty cards

  • Wow are you always this frantic?!

  • 17:43 - *WARNING:* While performing this procedure, students are not to consume Skiving Snackboxes. 23:48 - Transfigured Leatherworking students are also strictly forbidden to refer to Professor McGonagall using the phrase "Pounce Bag".

  • In case you’re here only to see Doom itself running: 15:00

  • Nice. Adam should get a couple studio lights for posing in his frequent costume builds.

  • i love how vaccum forming is just hi-tech shrinky-dinks shrinkydinks are also made out of polystyrene

  • I bought a bowler hat and took off the hatband and replaced it with one I made from leather.

  • Cool video. However, you should take instructions from Woodglut if you want to learn how easy it is to do.

  • I honestly think the best acting in that movie was done by the dog. it almost seems like it knows it's in a movie , and knows exactly what to do. it's quite impressive

  • Only Adam can make a hat video interesting :-)

  • Is that a ruler tattoed on his arm?

  • It's odd that that Mad Hat doesn't look Mad at all when worn with the hoodie and leather jacket.....Maybe I've watched the Thing so many times that that costume just screams 'Cool' at me.

  • Adam .......... did you see this?

  • The Last Best West MacReady hat (correct color is "chocolate"): RJ MacReady Hatband on Etsy: Adam's interview with Ernie Cline:

  • I got about halfway through the video before I suddenly realized that "oh wait Adam isn't filming himself" lol the end of an era?

  • Turn the hoodie into a dicky so you won't burn up at Comic Con

  • next build- the flamethrower- just saying

  • Link to the hoodie, Norm??

  • I would like to see him try to pick up all the bullets😂😂

  • I love the montage best yet! Good job editing team. And if it’s a team of one thank you.

  • "Picture the golden idol from Raiders...wait, you don't have to...I'll get mine." - classic Adam

  • I've been to California one time and that hat doesn't even crack top 10 insane things I seen.

  • You're missing the link to the Etsy store.

  • they sell little tubes of barge glue? I've literally only used giant vats of the stuff

  • As soon as Adam put that hat on all I could hear was "Hey Sweden" "It's Norway Mac"

  • Anyone know what glasses the character Douglas Abbot is wearing in sweet tooth?

  • Where are the promised links, to include the glasses, jacket and the Etsy seller who did the beading? Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video Adam! The Thing is also my favorite movie. Please make more videos about, like the flamethrower used in the movie. Take care!

  • Bennete 🤌

  • Totally agree with you Adam, The Thing is definitely Carpenter’s best work and largely contributed to Bottins work for sure, speaking of caps, is your faded red cap a tribute to the late Tony Scott? Intentionally or unintentionally? Because it’s dam sure similar

  • YESSSS! Thank you thank you thank you! I’ve long been obsessed with Mac’s chapeau!

  • While I enjoy the money Im not a fan of it but I do love seeing you love and your love is enough for me to love it. Man thats alot of love

  • Those Vuarnet Glacier glasses are $700 new. Jesus you’re in a grand with the hat and shades. Can’t wait to see the finished product

  • Flame thrower and some sticks of dynamite, no doubt.

  • Did he say “ready player 2”?!?!?!!?!!!!

  • Now you just need the pants, boots, & gloves. And a bottle of J&B.

  • I understand why some hats have one or two bent brims to allow bringing a gun up to your eye, but how is 4 practical? I would think it holds water and dumps it when you tilt your head.

    • My take has always been that it was a good "pilot hat" for MacReady, with all 4 brims turned up to deal with limited cockpit headroom. Yeah, would be terrible anywhere with significant rain, but probably fine with up to moderate snowfall, and would do a better job of trapping caught snowflakes (rather than, say, dumping them onto electronic equipment) than a hat without 4 brims.

  • I don't believe that hat has a deeper meaning behind it. I think it was very utilitarian for the character. He piloted the helicopter and as you can see in the film there is an abundance of brightness from the mix of sun and snow reflection, so i totally i think they thought about that when putting together Kurt's character wardrobe. Also, they where remotely stationed so even if it was a "rediculous" look, why would the scientists care they did not have to impress anyone. Just my thoughts.

  • Speed is important if you are holding something precariously heavy in the other hand.

  • Getting prescription lenses in those Vuarnet glacier glasses shouldn't be a problem at all either.

  • It's literally a 3ds with double the numbers of views and 5x the weight Welcome to 2007, kids

  • Man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything.

  • what is the x rating on the beaver ? They have 5X, 20X, and 100X beaver.

  • To quote another guy from another classic about an another supposedly unstoppable killing machine, "That's some bad hat, Harry."

  • Doesn’t know the purpose of a Sears’s catalog, I feel old now.

  • Me watching after having finished a Master's degree in architecture almost a decade ago...having nightmares of all the model building I had to do 😅

  • How does it do (with occasional cycling) as the cleaning fluid in an ultrasonic cleaner?

  • The greatest thing about that movie is there is no hot chick someone is trying to fuck. That shit gets so fucking old I cant watch a movie that has that lame-ass, no purpose characters in it just to sell tickets.

  • what's the colours ? You never said.

  • Back when Doom first came out... players, including myself, would find themselves looking around the side of their monitors during gameplay! I always felt silly when I realized I just did it. 😁

  • Hold it still i was trying to read that chinese article

  • Mythbusters and M5 museum lol

  • Links!

  • lol adam u a big nerd 🤣🤣👍😁 love it

  • Do you have anything that says, Dad likes leather? 19:06

  • Restring the crossbow!

  • Do it on the boat Jamie.

  • I mean... it's not like it's a fez... it looks like a passable hat to me.

  • what i liked about the film is the ending... where you know it is not over....

  • So cool.

  • Ypu are so thorough in you explanations-REALLY appreciated!!!

  • $500-$800 for this hat

  • Just wanted to let you know, that just by seeing the thumbnail, i immediately recognized this as MacReady's hat! I've also probably watched The Thing over 100 times...

    • That's once a month, every month for eight years and four months straight. Sounds improbable when put like that.

  • this movie scared the shit it of me lol.

  • Big trouble in little China for me is his masterpiece, the thing is a close 2nd

  • I thought you recently acquired a MacReady beard?

  • So, flame thrower confirmed.

  • One is stuck playing the impassioned protagonist in one’s Subjective Narrative of Self 🔻

  • I have both the fake version of this and the real one. I can say the real version is ALOT easier to assemble LOL, I cannot recommend fake legos because of how they don't really clamp together firmly enough.

  • Always Mac-Ready in The Shire...Most enjoyable video...I was enthralled with this hat from the first time I and my friends watched the movie when it first came out...I had an old cowboy hat, (which I bent to match the hat from the movie), blue hoody and leather bomber jacket and a cheap pair of shaded sunglasses...Oh, and a beard with long, past the shoulder hair...My friends hated me when I would wear them at the same time...They would even call me "MacReady" or "Mac"...I was as annoyed with them as they were with for this vid, I'm gonna add it to my favorites lists...
